Inspiration: PIZZOCCHERI from Gottino

If you ever see “Pizzoccheri” on a menu, ORDER IT.Very seriously.

Pizzoccheri is not just something that sounds like Pinnocchio had a baby with the word “pizza” and a French term of endearment, mon cheri; it is a traditional Italian dish composed of buckwheat noodles (gluten-free!!!!), green cabbage, and fontina.

I had the pleasure of treasuring every moment (actually moaning… sounded weird, tasted good) eating this concoction in the kitchen of Gottino, the delightfully charming Italian wine bar/small plates restaurant on Greenwich Avenue in the West Village.  To add bliss to blissed out?  They have a “prosciutto pesto” on the menu, that is NUT-FREE, made with prosciutto, sage, and parmesan.  Mmmmm mmm mmmm.

Moral of the story?  Find some Pizzoccheri and eat it.

Run.  (before eating it, of course.)

Gottino is located at 42 Greenwich Ave, New York, NY 10011.  Open 8 a.m. until 2 a.m. every day.
